Today I am pleased to announce that the WordPress South Africa community, of which WP Cape Town is a part, has a formal Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement.
Why is this important? Because it, along with the WordPress Community Code of Conduct, forms the basis of how we plan our events and how we expect our members to behave in any WordPress community spaces, in and around South Africa.
These statements are key to fostering a vibrant and equitable local WordPress community and will help guide us as we work to achieve this in every event we plan.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank those who weighed in on the creation of this statement in the WPSA Slack.
